What is EYC (Episcopal Youth Community) and why should I join?
EYC, or Episcopal Youth Community, is the youth group within the Episcopal Church. Normally for 6th graders through High School Seniors, this group is to allow fellowship within the youth of the church and have a place where they can learn to make decisions about their faith and their lives.
EYC often is a discussion group, focusing on the topics that are pertinent to today's teenagers. Discussions focus around current and topical events and issues. It may be about a local issue or a world event. Sometimes, we also have a night of just fun and games. We hold events during the year such as doing the Easter Egg Hunt for the younger children of the parish on Easter, conducting the Seder Dinner during Holy Week, planning, directing, and participating in the Annual Christmas Pageant, and serving as Acolytes during the year. We raise money to help pay for EYC and church functions such as the Annual Family Canoe Trip held each summer and the Food Baskets at the holidays for Caring and Sharing. We also work with other local churches to provide Supper on Saturdays to local families in need.
Our Youth learn leadership, teamwork, and daily coping skills to enhance their Christianity while teaching them to also be responsible, compassionate teenagers. Leadership opportunities such as Vestry Representative, Supper on Saturdays, and leading our Youth Led Services give teens the opportunity to understand what it is like to lead and how to develop the skills to be effective. By teaching leadership skills, teens can become an active participant in their own lives rather than watching it go by. It also teaches them that sometimes being the most effective leader is learning how to follow.
We are active, dynamic teenagers who believe that the power of the Holy Spirit brings us together and leads us to better ourselves, our community, our world. We hope you will join us.

EYC Christmas Wishes
The EYC are making Christmas Boxes from old Christmas cards to give out to the SOS children and our congregation during Christmas Eve services. Please donate your old Christmas Cards or a small gift or candy to place in each one. We would like the children on our SOS route to have a small gift in theirs. We will be working on these from Thanksgiving until Christmas.
Advent season begins
Advent begins on Sunday, November 27th. We will only have 4 Sundays of Advent and only 3 EYC groups during this time. We hope you will join us in celebrating the season with us.
Christmas Dinner
St. Jude's Christmas Dinner will be on Friday, December 16th. Tickets will be on sale prior to the event. The EYC youth will be serving as they did last year, and they are very excited about it! Merry Christmas!
EYC Resumes!!!
EYC, Jr. EYC, and our regular Wed night programs begin again on August 24th! It will be another busy year. 1st EYC will be the new Rules of the Year and planning/getting to know each other time. Invite friends who you think might be interested in some good fellowship, information about being a Christian AND a teenager at the same time in today's world, or if they are just looking for something in their life and don't know what.
